About Lynn

....or Why Would Anybody Want to Be a Pet & House Sitter?

It surprised me!

Maybe it was growing up as a PK (Preacher's Kid) and moving every 4 years.

Maybe it's in my genes - part of my pioneer heritage that led my ancestors to move West.

Maybe it's my Free Spirit nature showing its true self and looking for more variety and travel.

Maybe I was just feeling stuck!

I was starting to get "messages" that it was time to move from small, very quiet Flagler Beach and my waterfront condo.  But I didn't know where I wanted to go.  And every time I would think about settling down and getting my stuff out of storage, it felt heavy and stifling!

So here I am, using my experience to house sit.  It's an opportunity to help people while I see other places and decide where I might want to settle down "some day".

("Some day": possibly the right guy in my life, a place that I fall in love with, grandchildren..., )

The real surprise

After years of moving as a PK and then as a corporate wife, I thought I just wanted to find a wonderful community and settle down FOREVER.  I related to Scarlett and thought I wanted my own version of Tara...a home and garden, trees, views.

So I was shocked to find out that wasn't the path that really fits me - at least not right now.  I've found that this former shy rancher girl who lived at the end of the road on a rocky Mountain ranch in Montana has an adventurous streak.  And that this former PK, who always moved with a large family and/or husband could move and make friends on her own.

But what about your stuff?

Another shocker!  As my friend Kate told me when she packed much of my stuff while I was out of town recuperating from a broken ankle - "You don't need all this stuff.  Get rid of it!"

But...some of the antiques?  And books?  And more books?  And art?

It's been in storage, and I haven't missed much of it!

And I continue to get "messages" to Lighten Up!

With a laptop, Kindle or Nook, and a phone I really don't need all that stuff!

Houses

I've always loved houses.  Maybe it was from living in different parsonages (OK, not the best examples!).  Or from being a Realtor.  Or from redoing an 1890's farmhouse in downtown Dewy Rose.  I enjoy being in different homes.

House Sitting

House sitting allows me to help people who would rather not leave their home empty or who want their pets cared for while they're out of town.  I can indulge my free spirit with lots of variety, try different places and enjoy different house styles.

And..
  • play with different cats and dogs
  • take care of someone else's plants (indulging my horticulturist interests)
  • give people Peace of Mind while they're away, knowing things are taken care of and their home isn't left vacant.
Sounds like a Win-Win!
