A. Lots of reasons!
- Care for your pets - keeping them in familiar surroundings and on their normal schedule.
- Your neighbors are great, but you're a little uncomfortable feeling like you might be imposing on them.
- Your neighbors are OK, but you'd really like to know someone is there and won't forget or just dash in to feed your pets, water your plants, check your mail.
- You don't like leaving your house empty when you're away. You just feel more secure knowing the lights are on, someone reliable is there instead of your house being dark and empty.
- You like (hurricane experience) having someone who can handle any emergencies, such as pipes bursting, storms, etc.
- You want someone there overnight when you're away - for security, for your pets' reassurance.
A. Mostly it's simple things you would do to prepare for being out of town (see our Checklist):
- leave contact information: neighbors, veteranians, etc.
- leave your home clean
- be sure the House Sitter knows your pets' schedules, preferences, bedding locations, plant watering schedule, trash pick-up days...
- clear space in the refrigerator and closet and drawers
- leave instructions for operating the TV, and quirky appliances
A. I've been based in Florida and have Pet & House Sat in Florida and Georgia. Primarily New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange, Ormond Beach, St. Augustine & the Orlando area.
Q. What does this cost?
A. It depends on location, ammenities, duties, travel and length of stay.
Since each house sitting is customized to your needs, we need to talk and make win-win arrangements. And well worth it to have peace of mind about your home, pets, plants.
